How Jesus Stole Christmas

According to the retired bishop Teodoro Bacani Santa Claus is stealing the true spirit of Christmas. He said Filipinos should remember that Christmas is meant to celebrate the birth of Jesus.

What?

Jesus wasn't born on December 25, so why will it be his birthday?

A Different Carol

There was once a hard-working entrepreneur named Ebenezer Scrooge. Who labored industriously in his little business firm just to make ends meet.

Although he had been amassing enough wealth for a small fortune, he knew darn well that nobody would reserve any respect for those who had no money.

It was in the midst of a so-called Christmas Season when one of Ebenezer Scrooge’s underlings, a clerk by the name of Bob Cratchit ask for his help, regarding his crippled son named Tiny Tim. Scrooge told Cratchit that he is still doing some inventories for the company that he could not immediately help Mr. Cratchit with his problem. Mr. Cratchit took this as a refusal and sadly left for home.

The Christmas season is upon us, many had said, but Scrooge dismissed the whole tradition. He had reasons not to celebrate the season, far more than just “finding yourself a year older, and not an hour richer”.

For one thing, Ebenezer knows far too well that Christmas is nothing but a “pagan” celebration called “Feast of the Winter Solstice.” It was the birthday of the ancient god “Mithra” and scheming Christians took this holiday and dressed it up to become “Jesus Christ’s birthday.

One is enough...

"Theists give several 'proofs' of the existence of God. These are really just arguments, because if there were convincing proof just one would suffice."

(Marcel Conche, French philosopher, emeritus professor at the Sorbonne University)

Religion and Genocide

Religion and Genocide by Ellen J. Kennedy

[ Article published in Sociograph, the Sociologists of Minnesota Newsletter, Vol. 29, No. 3, Summer 2011. ]

The Nazis exterminated 6 million Jews because of religion; Orthodox Serbs, Catholic Croats, and Bosnian Muslims slaughtered each other because of religion:  the Sudanese Muslim government killed more than 2 million South Sudanese Christians because of religion.

Many people believe these statements and see religion as the ultimate cause of genocide.  Yet if we dig a little deeper, the causes become more complicated – and more difficult to solve or prevent.

Typical Theist's Posts in the Pinoy Atheist Facebook Group

Having a Facebook group can be so much fun... sometimes. Ok, ok! We are frequently invaded by Christians. I dunno? I already specified that the PA group is for non-believers only. Most often, these invaders will post a thread and... no, they're not there to ask questions but rather to preach their religion to the non-believers. To win souls, maybe?

Here are some samples of what they posts (with rebuttals.)

There's a storm coming so please stop evangelizing.

While looking at some update on the typhoon Ruby, I stumbled upon these two comment posts. Frankly I find it shameful to see people using natural calamities and human suffering to proselytize their religious beliefs.

Since I don't have the "guts" to create a debate on a forum intended to warn people, I'll just put it here... and to protect the "not so innocent," well... I have to change the names so something more appropriate.

Boxing and God

I wonder why Pacquiao need to donate P295 Million to God? God owns the Universe and everything in between, right? So what is P295 Million to God?

Just imagine what P295 Million can do for a public school or a public hospital in General Santos, and all the people it will help – but again that’s not my money. It just gives me a good idea what religion can do to a brain that was battered by boxing.

Like A Genie In A Bottle

Listening to Christian testimonies about god can really give you a good view of what this god belief really is and His role in Christian life.

I've noticed that Christians  believed in a god in a very funny way. Most of the Christians that I have talked to have given me examples that their faith were strengthened on something  trivial that happened in their life.

Some Comments From Members Of The INC

(Mostly written in Tagalog)

I have recently visited a forum. I think the forum was created by some Iglesia ni Cristo members…I don’t know.

Anyway, the forum was really about the never-ending feud between the ADD and the INC, but what caught my fancy was some discussion about atheism.

Empty Walls And Tied-up Tongues On Creation Science

If Creation science is science, then it is not 100% accurate and can also have errors since science is fallible, right?

And if Creation science is based in the Bible, then that means the Bible has errors.  Correct?

But I'm talking about Creation Science here. So, is Creation Science a science or not a science? BTW, the picture is nice ***, but it doesn't answer my question.

Still no answer?

In the AiG article Can Creationists Be Scientists? by Dr. Jason Lisle, he never gave a direct answer to the question if Creation Science is a Science. All he did was to criticize evolution (again) yet he never gave a good answer if one should treat Creation science as a legitimate science. That is why I'm asking the question.

Again, in the AiG article Real Scientists, Really? by Dr. Terry Mortenson on July 27, 2005 still there is no quote if Creation Science is legitimate science or not. It's again more on evolution bashing, yet it is empty on the issue concerning the legitimacy of Creation science as a legitimate science.

We can all see here that AiG acknowledge the word "Creation Science" yet every time I look for articles in that topic, well there is zero explanations what makes Creation science as "science." All I have been reading here so far are nothing but evolution bashing.

Moreover, if Creation Science is not connected anyway to any religious agenda, why this? When did science become religious?

Just wondering.

I have heard (and read) all those evolution bashing, common sense, a list of a bunch of "scientists" who's into Creation Science, I have even read  credentials, how smart Creationists are, Yaddah! Yaddah!  However, it seems when we talk about Creation Science as a legitimate science, I always see empty walls and tied-up tongues.

A Typical Excuse.

Amen to that!

Have you ever encountered posts like this one here on Facebook? Well, you probably have and I don't know, but these are mostly posted by Christian believers and stupid Filipino celebrities.

Seriously, this is so screwed up.

Take a good look at this example from a certain "celebrity." He even said we have to say "Amen" because amen works.

What? Are you fucking out of your wits man? Screw loose? What do you think of the word "amen," some kind of a magic word like "A la peanut butter sandwiches!" POOF!

The word Amen means, "so be it." Do you know why "so be it?" Because you leave everything to God's will. That is why you always say AMEN after a prayer because it is an expression of leaving everything to God. It is not a password to bend God's will. It is not like you're wishing to a genie or worst, like asking God to do you favors.

What you're just promoting here is nothing but false hope. Geez! Ang bobo mo naman! *facepalm*
Ang tagal nyo ng nagdadasal hindi pa rin nyo alam kung bakit kayo nagsasabi ng amen.

My papaya!

Bishop Bell's Dinosaur, Fake?

A Christian creationist on Facebook made this outrageous claim.

Evolution vs. Creation

Every time you hear (or read) a debate between evolution and creationism, it's really not about science, but...

Apologetic Apology courtesy of a fellow who calls himself as "Revelation."

I forgot who said this quote. All I know is that he was once a Nazi officer (John, I think this quote was uttered by Goebbles, the propaganda minister of Der Fuehrer of this earth in contrast to Der Fuehrer of the heavens.
- Praise da Lawd! - Mr. James Litton...Thanks for reminding me)

I really don’t care about who said this quote, but I really like what the quote says, “A lie told many times becomes the truth.”

The quote seems to fit Christianity very nicely.

I have seen a lot of Christian apologetic work, other than those written in social groups. They seem to be saying the same thing over and over and over. This message from a certain “Revelation” is not an exception.

[Revelation wrote on Fri, 12 October 2007 09:07] Does anyone know when this debate on God's existence started? Why did I ask this question? Because I think It was only after the "silent years" (400 years of silence in between the end of the OT and beginning of the NT) that this argument arose (or perhaps even after the death of the disciples). Why? Because signs and wonders could have ceased during these silent years and so people become skeptic about God since signs and wonders prove that God really exists.

"Gott ist tot"!

One of the most misunderstood yet most used Nietzsche‘s quote is “God is dead”. Christians claim that this quote signifies the emptiness of atheism. For example, Ravi Zacharias, the Hindu turned Christian apologist always quote Nietzsche and “God is dead!” as proof of atheism “emptiness”. Misinformed Christians, even, say, “This is a shattered appearance of Atheism in Nietzsche poem. It has the stare of death, looking into the barren desert of emptiness and hopelessness. The Nietzschean dogma, which dawned with the lantern being smashed to the ground, now ends in the darkness of the grave.”

Religion and Superstition: A Deadly Mix

When you take a bus trip from Negros to Boracay, chances are you're going to pass the town of Cadiz. I remember when we passed this town from a trip to Boracay, the bus made a scheduled stop from a gas station in Cadiz City so passengers can have taken a leak since it’s still too far before we can reach the town of Caticlan. As we stop at the gas station, some vendors approached the bus and started to sell us some food. The bus conductor told us not to buy any food being sold by street vendors. He even closed the windows.

I asked the conductor for his reasons. He said that most vendors are not human, but “aswang” in disguised and the food were human viscera. If we eat those foods we will become aswang like them.

Is Your Ignorance the Fuel of Your Faith?

I sometimes have this feeling that most believers become so involved, so fanatically religious because of sheer ignorance. You can’t blame me. Often times, the religious often debate me using outdated science and worst.

I hope I'm wrong.

Jesus Against Slavery. Is there such a thing?

                                                                                                 Painted by R.Coghe

I sometimes wonder why Jesus didn’t say something about slavery?

Some Christians says that since Jesus taught about goodness then automatically he carries a message about anti-slavery, but that’s not the case. Consider the fact that in the first place, you can't say that Jesus was ignorant on slavery. In the time of the Roman occupation of ancient Palestine, slavery was prevalent and that slavery was one of the greatest atrocities on basic human rights. As a benevolent God-Man, we except Jesus to say something against it, but he was very silent about the issue.

We won’t even read any quote in all four Gospels that Jesus said something against this practice. In fact, you won't find anything in the whole New Testaments about the evilness of slavery. Instead, what we can read is this...

"Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ. Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart. Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people, because you know that the Lord will reward each one for whatever good they do, whether they are slave or free." And masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Do not threaten them, since you know that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with him." (Ephesians 6:5-9 NIV)

I wonder why the deep silence on a very crucial issue?

A God Outside Time

There is a  big problem with Kuya Adviser's response (other than the cap locks and how he spelled the name “Einstein”). If God is “outside time…”  Uh, wait a minute there. What is “outside time?” Now, time has something to do with space.  Does this also mean God is outside space? First of all, the idea that God is outside time (since he created it) is not biblical. The idea came from the philosopher Plotinus. Yeah! He's the Catholic Church equivalent of Marx in the former Soviet Union.

Anyway, to say that God has no beginning nor end is defining the attribute of being eternal. But being eternal doesn't mean “outside time.” Eternal simply means existing forever; without end or beginning.

Going back to Kuya Adviser's “timeless god.”

As I have said earlier, there will be a lot of problems on Kuya Adviser's god who he claims to be outside time:

1. It is incomprehensible.  Saying God exists outside time carry no real meaning because there is simply no frame of reference for that in our universe.

2. If God is outside time then he is like a block of wood. He  should not have any single thought nor action. Remember that “time” has something to do with change and change has something to do with action. A timeless god means a god that cannot act, think, reason, interacts, create or any other action we can think of.

3. This God cannot be a person – in the sense that God  possesses “personality” and that He is a rational Being with self-awareness. A God outside time is impersonal just like a solid block. It has  non-conscious and doesn't have any life at all.

Until next time

How to you spell "hypocrites?"

"Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God." - Matthew 19:24

And now, the list of Christianity's wealthiest pastors... (Drum roll please.)

Bishop T.D. Jakes - net worth $150

Bishop David Oyedepo - net worth - $150 million
E A Adeboye
Benny Hinn - net worth $42 million
Chris Oyakhilome - net worth $30 to $50 million
Creflo Dollar
Kenneth Copeland
Billy Graham - net worth $25 million (note: this amount is questionable, see below)
Matthew Ashimolowo - annual income $200,000
Temitope Joshua - net worth $10 million to $15 million

So you must be careful to do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach. - Matthew 23:3

Short Tidbits (On reason, and Empiricism)

What Folly?
The problem with some believers when confronting atheism is that they rely too much to misconceptions. Surely, if you dismantle a misconception you are not accomplishing anything. Now here is a good example:

You often hear atheists say that that they are the guardian of reason; this is true as far as it goes.   But this illusion of being a guardian comes from the misconception that reason is confined only on empirical evidence. Human truth, such as beauty, joy, romanticism, love etc. are all evident in each of us and yet intangible. But for the atheist, intangibility is tantamount to inexistence ergo unreason.  The atheist takes empirical truth and treat it as human truth, for he has no imagination. They see the dinosaur turning into a bird or the seed turning into a plant and yet they cannot see how extraordinary this is, they are too close to see the big picture. As a great man once said “If you don’t think it's extraordinary for a pumpkin to become pumpkin then you hadn’t even began philosophy”. For the philosophy of the atheist is narrow at best, they demonstrate empirical nature and do not find God, The theist finds God and demonstrate nature.  For to look for God in nature is incomplete, to find God in our universe is to also take into account human truths.  They assert that matter only exists and yet they cannot imagine a universe such as theirs, for if they did, they wouldn’t be atheists.

Okso the first thing we notice here is that the author thinks that atheist's claims to be “guardian of reason.” No, we don’t guard reason, we just use it better.

Maybe the best thing we have to do here is to define what reason is and how atheists use it.

I think the author of this Christian article defined reason, as a rational motive in believing in the existence or non-existence of something.  Further reading suggests that the author thinks that the word reason is synonymous with the word truth, is it?

All of us use reason, that is because it justifies our belief. We reason, because we think. Ancient people believe that the Sun revolves around the Earth and to prove this, they will reason out that the Sun always rise to the East and set in the West. Most Christians still believe that planet Earth is flat, that it is just 6,000 years old and their reason is that the Bible (which is the inerrant word of God) said so. That is reasoning, but is it true?

Being Reasonable or Being Rational?
Not all reason is good reasoning. Hey, anyone can draw, right? However, an artist is very different compared to an ordinary Joe. That is the same with reasoning. Everyone can reason out, but it takes more than that to arrive at an objective truth - that includes the disciplines of science and logic, as well as critical thinking.

Faith is also reasoning. Well, some atheists do separate reason from faith, but based on our working definition of the word “reason,” faith can also serve as a cause to believe in the existence of something intangible. However, just because faith is also a kind of reason does not mean that it is proven true.

We use reason to justify our belief system, yet it does not constitute a truth-value. That is where rationality sets-in. Faith-based reasoning is motivated by emotion while rationality is more objective. HmmmmChristians believed that God exist becausewell because He might strike them dead or cursed them to go to Hell if they don’t or because they love Jesus, the Roman Catholic Church, the communion of the Saint and so on. Yet atheists like me does not believe that God exists because the probability of its existence is improbable. We get our conclusion using science (not too much in philosophy, though in philosophy, even Humpty-Dumpty can exist), by dealing with data and logical arguments, not because of fear or love or hatewhatever.

Now the author thinks that joy, love, beauty, and romanticism as human truth, yet it cannot explain the existence of something intangible. Joy, love, beauty, and romanticism are examples of abstract human thought, and these are too subjective to give a good example of something as true. Human emotions are not used in critical thinking. The existences of a god are epistemological and metaphysical concerns not an emotional one.

Empiricism Do Not Enter!
Why this allergic reaction to the word “empirical?”

Christians are always shouting againts this word every time they see it approaching their arguments. What is wrong with empirical proofs? The problem here is that when we talk about something empirical, we are talking about something that we can observe. Remember, the foundation of their God belief relies on something that cannot be observed, that’s faith. Therefore, they have to do something for this shortfall.

Ideas are not tangible, so does imaginations. I can always imagine a perfect island (like Gaulino) or a perfect universe. However, that's it, it is just an imagination- a figment of an over-active mind. That is why empiricism is barred in Christian apology – it will be hard for them to justify the existence of an invisible, supernatural, disembodied entity in the scope of empirical evidence. They have to rely on “out of this world proof” or emotional, subjective feeling to defend God’s existence. That's why they need faith, to justify the existence of the unseen and the unproven. Come on, if God is real, why need the justification of faith?  I do not see air, or atoms, or black holes and dark matter yet I do not need faith to justify its existence. I do not see dinosaur turning to birds or seeds turning into pumpkins, yet scientific evidence proves it. Now, if I will believe that a pumpkin will turn into a glass carriage, now that requires faith.

Heads up! Another laurel leaf in their growing crown. Kudos to the Filipino Freethinkers.

I would like to give much weight to the word "a group of atheists in the Philippines" in this article.

Uhhh...how about ??? Anyare? Wag na lang

Uhhh...not only Abraham, but also Moses, Samuel, David, and the prophets, they all heard the voice of God. So, do they need to seek professional help huh Ray?

It is the listeners who are important.

Picture from Raw Story
In a debate, you will notice that most Christian opponents will just ignore everything that you're saying. Well, don't be bothered because it is the listeners who are important.

I once have a debate with a Christian pastor regarding some moral issues in the Bible and after a long debate, a nice looking couple approached me and said they like what I have said and made them thinking.

Then they handed me a large Coke and a small box of chocolate rolls as a token of appreciation. They look at the Christian pastor and told him to study more and they left.

Big "Bang!"

Christian Pastor Wanna Be: The Big Bang supported the way God created the Universe in the Bible.

John the Atheist: You tell me?

Christian Pastor Wanna Be: Ok. According to Norman Giesler, before the Big Bang there was no space. What happen is that a large, chunk of matter exploded and...

John the Atheist:  A large what?

Christian Pastor Wanna Be: A large chunk of matter.

John the Atheist:  Sure ka? A large chunk of matter?

Christian Pastor Wanna Be: YES!!!!!
John the Atheist:  And matter is what... anything that occupy space and has mass?

Christian Pastor Wanna Be: YES! THAT IS MATTER!!

John the Atheist:  Ok, so you're saying that before the Big Bang, there was no space and a large, chunk of matter - which is something that occupy "SPACE" exploded. But I thought before the Big Bang, there was no space? Anyare?

Christian Pastor Wanna Be: "nganga

Around 600 B. C., someone by the name of Brihaspati wrote a classic atheistic philosophical treatise known as Barhaspatya Sutras. Later on, his philosophy came to be labeled as Lokayata (“pertaining to the world”) or Cârvâka (“Sweet-tongued”) philosophy.

A typical Filipino "Apologetics." (The Book of Job and the Problem of Suffering and Evil)

I was surprised to find this comment post on my Goggle+. Kinda annoying little runt, but hey, at least we now have a new topic to talk about.

Einstein vs. The Teacher

It is a physics class where Albert Einstein corrects the teacher about God. The teacher argues, if there is evil, then God created evil because he created everything. Therefore, according to the laws of physics if God exists, he is evil, but Einstein says, Is there cold? Of course, says the teacher

The Atheist Professor

The Flood - Global or Regional?

I noticed that some Christians are trying to "sanitized" their Bible and I think the best example is the flood story.

According to these Christians, the flood is just a regional event and not a catastrophe of global proportion... Regional? Well, now... It seems some Christians (who are called "regionalists" ) are now in agreement with skeptics huh?

Frankly, I find this tactic a joke.

Heavenly Knowledge from a Dead God.

Let’s face it, sometimes fundamentalist Christians can be quite dishonest  and this is not an accusation. I’m just stating a fact.

Knowledge kills ignorance and superstition. That’s a fact, and the Christian God only survives because of these pillars. To topple the pillar of ignorance and superstition is to topple God. Ignorance and superstition hold God in his altar in heaven. Ignorance and superstition bind our mind to think. You have to stop thinking in order to worship God. But why?

The answer is faith.

Faith expands when reason is chained.

Faith in Jesus, theological insights, and spiritual gifts are to substitute knowledge, disputation, and philosophy as the basis for truth. In effect, faith is to replace proof, hope is to replace work, and trust is to replace evidence. People have to rely on forces and supernatural beings beyond their control rather than their own talents and abilities. That’s the game plan. A person who knows his own talent cannot be subjugated by kings and priests. Religion is the only way to do it.

Notice the following Biblical verses:
1 COR. 3:18-19 "Let no one deceive himself. If any one among you thinks that he is wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is folly with God”

COL. 2:8 RSV "See to it that no one makes a prey of you by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the universe, and not according to Christ"

2 TIM. 2:16-17 "Avoid such godless chatter, for it will lead people into more and more ungodliness, and their talk will eat its way like gangrene"

1 TIM. 6:20 "O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called...."

2 TIM. 2:14 RSV "Remind them of this, and charge them before the Lord to avoid disputing about words, which does no good, but only ruins the hearers"

ROM. 14:1 RSV "As for the man who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not for disputes over opinions"

The sample Bible verses just show how terrified the Bible god and his Christ on science, inquiries and philosophy.

Now, it is important to any sensible society that truth is discovered through the interchange of ideas in an open forum. Knowledge is power so to speak and any advancing civilization knows that. Yet, Christians are repeatedly cautioned to avoid  other points of view and shun the exchange of ideas through dialogue. They are told to run away from non-biblical ideas because the latter are not only wrong and will lead believers astray, but it possessed by those with less than honorable motives. Christian beliefs are not to be open to questions and doubts. The question is why. Is God afraid to face facts? Is there a truth in the issue of “The God of the Gaps” where God is being pushed further away when new discoveries are found?

The truth of the matter is that faith will not withstand intellectual scrutiny. Fundamentalism and fanaticism have been always opposed to progress and the advancement of human knowledge in particular. As Robert Ingersoll has once said, "When religion becomes scientific, it ceases to be religion and becomes science. Religion is not intellectual--it is emotional. It does not appeal to the reason. The founder of a religion has always said, 'Let him that hath ears to hear, hear!' No founder has said: 'Let him that hath brains to think, think!". Ambrose Bierce probably encapsulated the concept as well as anyone when he defined faith as "belief without evidence in what is told by one who speaks without knowledge, of things without parallel."

The Christians accuse non-believers of “worldly knowledge”. Knowledge that supposes to be foolishness to God. Hmmmmwell let see what kind of knowledge this God has to offer.

• Some fowls are four-footed (Lev. 11:20-21);
• Some creeping insects have four legs. (Lev. 11:22-23);
• Hares chew the cud (Lev. 11:6);
• Conies chew the cud (Lev. 11:5);
• Camels don't divide the hoof (Lev. 11:4);
• The earth was formed out of and by means of water (2 Peter 3:5 RSV);
• The earth rest on pillars (1 Sam. 2:8);
• The earth won't be moved (1Chron. 16:30);
• A hare does not divide the hoof (Deut. 14:7);
• The rainbow is not as old as rain and sunshine (Gen. 9:13);
• A mustard seed is the smallest of all seeds and grows into the greatest of all shrubs (Matt. 13:31-32 RSV);
• Turtles have voices (Song of Sol. 2:12);
• The earth has ends or edges (Job 37:3);
• The earth has four corners (Isa. 11:12, Rev. 7:1);
• Some 4-legged animals fly (Lev. 11:21);
• The world's language didn't evolve but appeared suddenly (Gen. 11:6-9);
• A fetus can understand speech (Luke 1:44).
• That salt loses its saltiness

The Bible also says that the following mythical creatures exist
cockatrices (Jer. 8:17, Isa. 11:8 59:5),
unicorns (Deut. 33:17, Psalms 22:21. 29:6, Job 39:9-10),
satyrs (Isa. 34:14, 13:21)
fiery serpents (Num. 21:6),
flying serpents (Isa. 14:29, 30:6).

The Christian God and its adherents seem fearful of inquiry, fearful of freedom, fearful of knowledge – indeed, fearful of anything except its own repetitious propaganda. Yet reading the Bible give us a hopelessly ignorant God rather than an omniscient character. Sickness for example, does not result from sin being punish. Even the most righteous person can feel ill. Nor does cure come from prayers (See: James 5:13-15). Today, diseases are known to be caused by virus, bacteria and fungi and it is a common knowledge that these diseases can be cured by antibiotics, chemotherapy and surgery. Even the Roman Catholic Pope knows it, that’s why he goes to a hospital whenever he feels ill.

Quite the opposite from the Judeo-Christian sacred book, the ancient Chinese have already catalogued different herbal plants to be used for different illness, however reading the Bible, one cannot even find a good medicine against tooth ache. Ancient civilizations have already thought about medicine, yet we find that the Bible god is too unaware of these matters.

Just read Mark 5:8 and 9:25. Jesus still believes that mental illnesses are the result of demon possession. Talk about an omniscient God, huh? It was highly documented that the Egyptians and ancient Peruvians have already been performing cranial surgery even before Jesus walks on Earth. In the year 1800’s people believed that smallpox was a punishment from God. They even oppose the creation of a vaccine against smallpox. Yet today science has eradicated smallpox from the face of this planet. An act never accomplished by God. If God’s heavenly knowledge hasn't accomplished anything, then what good is it for?

Today “Acts of God” are now called “natural disaster”. We now can predict such phenomena like earthquakes and hurricane with remarkable accuracy. A feat never achieved by these so-called prophets of God.

The Bible believed that the Earth was in the center of the Universe, Naturally, Earth was God’s footstool. Yet because of Copernicus and Galileo, Earth could no longer be envisioned as the center of the Universe and in December 28, 1991, 3 days after Jesus’ birthday, The Vatican officially admitted that God, the Church and the Bible have been wrong and Galileo was right! With physics and astronomy, human has conquered the moon and have send robot space probes to other planets and even outside our own galaxy. Medicine and biology have eradicated some diseases that were present at Jesus time. We can now cure leprosy without relying to magic, miracles and useless prayers. What does theology make in the advancement of humankind?

Even God’s kingdom in heaven was kicked out. Up there is no heaven beyond the heavens. Our embrace of the vastness of the Cosmos have removed God from the sky and in our human consciousness. God became a vanished image, unlike the days when the Bible speaks of his power and wrath.

Charles Darwin’s discovery showed us that there is no ultimate destiny. That man is just the same as other animals on this planet. It seems  God is nothing more but a superlative image of man created by humans. There is nothing special about him. Freud and Jung exposed the neurotic element of religion and that God is nothing more but a fantasized fatherly figure. The destruction of God was total and complete. Today the so-called miracles of the Bible were no more, No more talking snakes, no more people turning into pillars of salt, the Red Sea will never open up to let the Hebrew cross a dry land, no more water changing into wine and no more Lazarus to resurrect. The God of the Christians, the Bible god, who was the source of their value, the definer of their sense of right or wrong, the creator of their universe, the eternal king of the kingdom they have dream was simply no more.

Now all we have are noisy Christian Fundies: souls that still cling from the remnants of this mythology. They are the devotees that will reject everything just to defend their departed deity. They refuse neither to listen nor to enter debates. With great vehemence, they will deny the knowledge that caused their god to perish.

This is what kind of knowledge Christians has to offer, the so-called “heavenly knowledge” that have done nothing so far; a knowledge that is wasted from the endless discussion to prove something without proof. Knowledge that was built from assumptions and assurances, that hides from scrutiny and inquiry. What’s amusing is Christians still insists on calling this “knowledge."

I choose a better knowledge, one that was founded from deep scrutiny and scientific inquiry. I choose the knowledge of this world, the knowledge that is empirical and reachable. The knowledge that I choose has better and tangible results: This “worldly” knowledge that exterminated god.

Issue: CSUN Scientist Fired After Soft Tissue Found On Dinosaur Fossil

There was this news about a Creationist scientist being thrown out of the school. Well, according to the Christiannews.net a certain Mark Armitage was thrown out of California State University for "discovering" soft tissue on a Triceratops fossil. Three cheers to Creationism eh?

Not so fast there bub.

Armitage's discovery was then published in Acta Histochemica [volume 115, Issue 6, July 2013, Pages 603–608], a scientific journal.

The best thing here is that he published it in a scientific journal, so that experts can verify it. The same issue (about the soft tissue) was also discovered in a fossilized bone of a Tyrannosaurus Rex. Most Creationists conclude that such discovery is a proof that dinosaurs are only 4,000 years old, but the research, headed by Mary Schweitzer, a molecular paleontologist at North Carolina State University suggest otherwise. It can be explained by iron in the dinosaur’s body, which they say preserved the tissue before it could decay.

In the case of Armitage and his religion, I will just let the Court receive the evidence and decide based on the merit on what to do with the dispute over his leaving his employment.

A Jealous God?

Exodus 34:14
Do not worship any other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.
Jealousy is an emotion, and the word typically refers to the negative thoughts and feelings of insecurity, fear, and anxiety over an anticipated loss of something of great personal value, particularly in reference to a human connection. (Wikipedia)

An all-powerful being still feels " insecurity, fear, and anxiety?"
Weird god huh?

Coming out of the closet

What's wrong guys????
Panahon na para lumantad at magpakatotoo!!!

Ewan ko ba? Marami pa rin mga non-believers ang natataklot sa salitang "atheist". What's the matter? Some guys like to label themselves as non-theist (di ba atheist din yan?) Others prefer the name "Freethinker". Any name can do, wag lang "atheist"....."Oh no!!! Not that word".

What's wrong with being an atheist? What's wrong in not believing what these "believers" believe and worshipped? Guys sa totoo lang, we have an advantage. WE THINK MORE!
So why be ashamed of being rational? Don't you like it when we are suppose to be more rational than most Filipinos who still cling to superstitions? We're more advance. We're not chained with ignorance and baseless fear anymore.

We are not into self-denial my friends. How can you deny something that does not exist? We don't deny, but we question... It's as simple as that.

Is atheism a joke?
Atheism is not a joke my friends. Atheism is just fighting for the rights in question, especially on these gullible times (even road stains are being worshipped these days.) Believing in blue elephants, faith healers, magic rod that becomes a snake, parting seas, man who can walk on water and dead people rising,  Now that's a joke.
