Parang ganito...<p></p><p style="text-align: justify;">Whatever is written in the Bhagavad Gita, stays in the Bhagavad Gita. Maaaring makapulot ako ng mga good moral lessons that I can use on my everyday life pero hindi ako affected ng stories na nakasaad sa mga pages ng Gita, unless ofcoure I have a very keen interest with the lives of those people in the time the Gita was being written.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">The same with your bible po. There are good stories, irrational narratives, and ancient superstitions found in the pages of the bible. Maybe if I have an interest in the study of ancient Semitic culture, but mas interested ako sa ancient Egyptians than ancient Hebrews po eh. But just like any other old book, I criticize the folly, inconsistencies, and errors of the bible. If this book is "inspired" by a god as the writers of Timothy imagined, obviously they were worshiping an ignorant god. Sabi ko nga, it's a hobby.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">By the way, I was born in the 20th Century po so I am more into the democratic system of government po, not on some ancient "Might Is Right" tribal form of leadership so I'm not really into this uh, "Lord is commanding me." bullshit. Hindi po ako nakatira sa serf and I don't have any so-called "Lord" commanding me what to do. </p>John Paraisohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10969065277187656170noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3624269659765973625.post-65637136506007644042022-10-13T14:28:00.008+08:002022-10-13T14:28:37.827+08:00Masyadong Assuming <p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwbGR9egzffWYzUqnHfErweSVZlx7hvoOcehDI1mSeE2H7-fe-eGdV-erpe0ZxY2TVk75mcv-E9FUlr6-KvGdqqz2n9hS1rK-OpV_9fYdgM0hvublDvy9lNpy6FCDKHaRLkRT-AqWriB4bmpq0xnuz_2HO3_INEWTx5miAhm84n9KqI9e2JI801T2t/s800/2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="800" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwbGR9egzffWYzUqnHfErweSVZlx7hvoOcehDI1mSeE2H7-fe-eGdV-erpe0ZxY2TVk75mcv-E9FUlr6-KvGdqqz2n9hS1rK-OpV_9fYdgM0hvublDvy9lNpy6FCDKHaRLkRT-AqWriB4bmpq0xnuz_2HO3_INEWTx5miAhm84n9KqI9e2JI801T2t/w640-h480/2.png" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div style="text-align: justify;"> Hayz! He didn't accept Jesus as Lord and Savior when he died on December 20, 1996 due to pneumonia.<br /><br />Note: According to their doctrine, when a sinner accepted Jesus before dying, he automatically gets a "Get out of Jail" card. Sorry for the pun, but seriously it's just accepting Jesus, and all your sins are washed away. Anyone who didn't believe in Jesus is damn in hell. (See: John 14:6 ) except for those characters in the Old Testament. As Christian philosopher Raymond D. Bradley in a debate with fellow Christian philosopher William Lane Craig said, <i>"Neither good works nor generous donations will get you there. The legions of the damned, according to Jesus, include all those who don't have the right belief, the belief that he, Jesus, is Lord and Savior. In short, those who will be sent to hell include all those who, as the evangelicals put it, have not been born again. "</i></p><p style="text-align: justify;">So looking at this doctrine we can say that even serial killers get to heaven as long as they accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior before they die. In the case of Dahmer - Dahmer becomes a born-again Christian in prison, eight months before he was murdered by fellow prisoner Christopher Scarver.</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLA5qn9HNRj5hpUyGwbQ0RYSWaPeCeNQpGaKLqM6vCu54e2NNzo-TCxsa_pvVOjBCV_IJEpW-XrNV2pg2QRSe1mJ1p3Ss1YtQVxyNNBKc1XLMm9KYRaLDhUyMY-cLsptSP3hvlJXx83nfUR4chyNhlHIe79v_lep2lMUuE8MRtBcKrBTe9n9AemUzP/s773/Untitled-1.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="529" data-original-width="773" height="438" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLA5qn9HNRj5hpUyGwbQ0RYSWaPeCeNQpGaKLqM6vCu54e2NNzo-TCxsa_pvVOjBCV_IJEpW-XrNV2pg2QRSe1mJ1p3Ss1YtQVxyNNBKc1XLMm9KYRaLDhUyMY-cLsptSP3hvlJXx83nfUR4chyNhlHIe79v_lep2lMUuE8MRtBcKrBTe9n9AemUzP/w640-h438/Untitled-1.png" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p></p>John Paraisohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10969065277187656170noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3624269659765973625.post-16714454105253282682022-09-19T18:22:00.004+08:002022-09-19T18:22:23.208+08:00Lucifer<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpHwOzHWWrVSQNQNLADCIOtlxKauKDk-RTiDfceACcSpOGv3EhSJx4dFaCeC-gjYTXkgKAAWyI1md3o74qaw9yO2LvNE-9v_u2hpvtuFEVxQBwBAcyPY5FKS8jPuV_ZKknu8HGrhsIXZDBE6R1InUvz02D57wqzh-XGWp-W0G94D7Zz_YhyyOQIcIz/s640/306797147_5609854589060057_2281249563720075081_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="511" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpHwOzHWWrVSQNQNLADCIOtlxKauKDk-RTiDfceACcSpOGv3EhSJx4dFaCeC-gjYTXkgKAAWyI1md3o74qaw9yO2LvNE-9v_u2hpvtuFEVxQBwBAcyPY5FKS8jPuV_ZKknu8HGrhsIXZDBE6R1InUvz02D57wqzh-XGWp-W0G94D7Zz_YhyyOQIcIz/s320/306797147_5609854589060057_2281249563720075081_n.jpg" width="256" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><b>Christian Claim:</b> God is perfect and all his works are perfect. How the hell was Satan able to enter the garden in the first place? If this god can order an angel to guard the entrance of the garden with a flaming sword, why did he didn't employ this before Satan entered his playground? Does that mean Satan just outwitted god? </p><p style="text-align: justify;">2. If god is all-knowing, he already knows that Satan is inside the garden. So why did he not able to remove him? Being all-knowing, god already knows that Adam and his mate will be tempted by Satan to eat the fruit of Knowledge. Being omnipotent, what did god do to prevent this from happening? He already knows what will happen, right? Can't this all-powerful god make an unpenetrable fence around the tree or even a simple picket fence? </p><p style="text-align: justify;">Typical Christian response: God is testing Adam. </p><p style="text-align: justify;">Me: Test? Wait? If god already knows the outcome why does the need to test the subject? Would it be better that he made some kind of prevention since he already knows the outcome? If god already knows the outcome yet didn't even make any attempt to prevent it from happening even if he has the capacity to do so then that makes god more responsible for letting the world become corrupted since Adam and the woman are innocent. </p><p style="text-align: justify;">It's god fault!</p>John Paraisohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10969065277187656170noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3624269659765973625.post-646548312908545212022-09-19T18:18:00.004+08:002022-09-19T18:18:36.726+08:00Samson<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEij3IM9ZX1l5bkh6dDvwIgdBgr8pg0S41r6lYMr2a0LnmETd5cDsrkJfhrKbW8WNJFy0QksNPq4z5mcRd-Cr4okKMKR27qsBHsAede9IrFkhKle3-gJx8osWqwwHIp7aEzVVqpXGymTF2SDFDsvj0AObgTaaaZCEN_-9HAyVsL9wdY_nPq51g5FDa4R/s3638/01-people-of-the-bible-samson-delilah.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3638" data-original-width="2879" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEij3IM9ZX1l5bkh6dDvwIgdBgr8pg0S41r6lYMr2a0LnmETd5cDsrkJfhrKbW8WNJFy0QksNPq4z5mcRd-Cr4okKMKR27qsBHsAede9IrFkhKle3-gJx8osWqwwHIp7aEzVVqpXGymTF2SDFDsvj0AObgTaaaZCEN_-9HAyVsL9wdY_nPq51g5FDa4R/w316-h400/01-people-of-the-bible-samson-delilah.jpg" width="316" /></a></div><br /><div style="text-align: justify;">Do you really believe this is a historical fact? </div><p></p><p style="text-align: justify;">While some liberal Christians will accept that the story of Samson was just a legend, most Christian fanatics will say that Samson was historical. </p><p style="text-align: justify;">The book of Judges (Judges 13:5) describes him as an Israelite warrior and judge, a member of the tribe of Dan, and a Nazirite. Sabi nya, </span></div><div><span style="font-size: 14.6667px; font-variant-ligatures: none; white-space: pre-wrap;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: 14.6667px; font-variant-ligatures: none; white-space: pre-wrap;"><blockquote>“...Specially in this age of information, most of the people worldwide are being misleaded from the Truth/Facts or doesnt have proper education, and Religious Brainwashing through Indoctrination at a very young age is still Rampant.” </blockquote></span></div><div><span style="font-size: 14.6667px; font-variant-ligatures: none; white-space: pre-wrap;">Atheism agad? If I believe in a higher being pero I hate organized religion, hindi ako atheist. Langya! Naniwala nga sa Tallano golds eh, sa Diyos pa? So bago po umusok ang ilong nyo at magplanong sunugin ang mga simbahan at kapilya sa buong Pilipinas, dig the cause. Remember that hopeless people cling in hope and religion offers hope. I don’t care if it’s false hope, basta hope (kahit sigarilyo pa yan!) Now, asked yourselves – anong hope ang ipapalit nyo if you got rid of religion. Oh and please, stop comparing secular countries like Sweden, Finland and Norway sa Pilipinas. Millennials (those born from 1981 to 1996 or aged 21 to 28) today get more information on social media like Tik-Tok. Sadly, there is a study that Filipinos are not into books. Consider also the fact that Filipinos like things that will make them “feel good.” Dyan pa lang bias na. </span></li></ul></div><div><span style="font-size: 14.6667px; font-variant-ligatures: none; white-space: pre-wrap;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: 14.6667px; font-variant-ligatures: none; white-space: pre-wrap;"> </span></div><div><span style="font-size: 14.6667px; font-variant-ligatures: none; white-space: pre-wrap;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: 14.6667px; font-variant-ligatures: none; white-space: pre-wrap;">Now, siryoso ka ba? Totally disgusting! Other than that hot-headed Messiah and the Fig Tree, there’s one story you can find in the Old Testament. If you guys are not familiar with it...ah, just keep reading. <p></p><p style="text-align: justify;">The story can be found in 2 Kings 2:23-24. </p><p style="text-align: justify;">“From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some boys came out of the town and jeered at him. “Get out of here, baldy!” they said. “Get out of here, baldy!” He turned around, looked at them and called down a curse on them in the name of the Lord. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the boys.” </p><p style="text-align: justify;">So, he doesn’t want to be called “baldy” but that’s OVERKILL! 42 children were killed gruesomely by bears because they called him baldy? </p><p style="text-align: justify;"><i>Grabe namang mapikon. </i></p><p style="text-align: justify;">And, get this. He called The Lord to... wait, curse? I thought you can’t use the Name of the Lord in vain? And why will a so-called “God is Good” Lord approved of this? </p><p style="text-align: justify;">Christian apologists try to sanitize the story by saying they are not children, they are teenagers. Ah! So, when a group of teens calls me fatso, I could just mow down 42 of them using an M-16 automatic with the Lord’s blessing huh? </p><p style="text-align: justify;">Another Christian apologist says that Elisha’s life was in danger. What? He’s in danger because kids called him baldy? besides, nothing in those verses says that they’re going to kill him. </p><p style="text-align: justify;">Anyways, whatever reason suggested there’s no good reason to massacre 42 kids just because you don’t like the way they tease you. Maybe instead of bears, he should ask his god with a pair of nice wig to cover his baldness.</p>John Paraisohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10969065277187656170noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3624269659765973625.post-39880891159568429272021-02-28T08:55:00.001+08:002021-02-28T08:55:19.251+08:00A "Designed" Brain? <p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiVt-XQx7Fqg0SA_NWs1_ETAJd2HEdubWRmROtEAdWvs4ngjLU5HH9iNh_z5ggyjfc_78d1Hd5Hg3aE789sfyrwPVUjA5tB2j5jE-DCGwddWFtvEQ7_s3LsuDnhxZvywRhPHe91PuB8oQ/s755/It%2527s+All+About+the+Mind.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="755" data-original-width="598" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiVt-XQx7Fqg0SA_NWs1_ETAJd2HEdubWRmROtEAdWvs4ngjLU5HH9iNh_z5ggyjfc_78d1Hd5Hg3aE789sfyrwPVUjA5tB2j5jE-DCGwddWFtvEQ7_s3LsuDnhxZvywRhPHe91PuB8oQ/w506-h640/It%2527s+All+About+the+Mind.png" width="506" /></a></div><br /><div style="text-align: justify;">The problem with the theist's comments is that he already assumed that the brain was "designed" to think. He just can't imagine how the brain could have the ability to think if the brain just came from some "random process of evolution." That’s why he was asking, "If the brain wasn't designed to think and it just came out from natural process, how can you trust your thought?"</div><p></p><span><a name='more'></a></span><p style="text-align: justify;">Based on his comments, I understand that he thinks that without his Designer, the brain won't function to think since chemical reactions isn't enough to make someone think. In his illustration: "Suppose someone replaced a driver and this replacement doesn't know how to drive the vehicle, are you still going to ride the vehicle?" Hmmm… Seriously I don't think this "illustration" parallel the issue but... </p><p style="text-align: justify;">...here's a shocker!</p><p style="text-align: justify;">In a recent discovery, psychologists now know that the "brain wasn't designed to think." In short, the brain didn't started to be an organ used for thinking. Think about it for a second. There are allot of organisms that have a brain, yet they don't have the ability to think.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">To understand how your brain actually works and what its most important job is, we have to go back about five hundred million years, in the Cambrian Period. This is the period when animals began actually hunting one another, which started an arms race of sorts between predators and prey. </p><p style="text-align: justify;">So in this predator vs. prey environment, the brain's most important job is to run a budget for your body's energy efficiently, so that you can spend when you need to and save when you don't. This helps you survive and thrive, and ultimately, to perform nature’s most vital task: passing your genes on to the next generation. </p><p style="text-align: justify;">And what about thinking? Thinking is loosely defined as the process of using one's mind to consider or reason about something. That is a very simple definition. Thinking is a process. We use it to solve a problem, to reason out, to make decisions, to form a category, to communicate, to form concepts, or to reflect an action. These are called cognition. Now, the process is not just brain chemistry. Thinking needs a lot more. In order to think, we must also have a good set of working memory, active senses - remember that our environment affects our thinking. You need nerve cells and brain chemicals that can detect information about the outside world and can transmit that information to other nerve cells. Also, cognitive functions depend on all parts of the brain working properly; when these systems become disrupted, thinking can be affected.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">So, can you trust your thoughts?</p><p style="text-align: justify;">Yes and No. </p><p style="text-align: justify;">Thinking can be affected by your belief, concept or trust. Your emotions and personal belief like your politics, or religion can reshape your thinking ability. For example, if you deeply believed that extra-terrestrial aliens exist, and that aliens from outer space now live under the White House, you can easily think any strange lights that you see are "unidentified alien spacecrafts." Anaother example. Because of your religious belief, you "think" that the thinking process can only be achieve if the brain was "designed" to think.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">Your education and intelligence can also alter the way you think. Example, people with lower intelligence are easily to accept false news and conspiracy theories compare to those who have higher intelligence.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">Environment can also play with your thoughts, like how hallucinations can form in your head due to exposure in very hot weather. Optical illusions like mirages can be also a factor.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">Your body also has some role in altering your way of thinking. Hunger and long sleep deprivation can cause hallucination and very bad judgment. </p><p style="text-align: justify;">Chemicals like drugs, alcohol, or mental illness like dementia, paranoia and schizophrenia can also have an effect.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">But with a well-trained, healthy mind, and some external help, we can trust our thinking ability.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">So, that's it. These are chemical reactions inside and electrical activity in your brain, plus the external environment that makes you trust the way you think. The process is so natural; you don't need a so-called "Designer" to tinker your brain to get you thinking.</p><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div>John Paraisohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10969065277187656170noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3624269659765973625.post-26855991635759510492021-02-28T08:53:00.001+08:002021-02-28T08:53:04.173+08:00"Gap Filler"<p style="text-align: justify;"> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXRzfGZSQuBe-VhHdHGROF2DPRVVicaqC2b_dTjZi-w-nkFdiUghgqOy1ZUPIptJMaIr8RHTeScMZ9CZJOYUk3bHBN-kYyi0iikg-A_DwemGCnku6zL_-lHTuPMrltmb6lSYe2dsbY4BY/s800/1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="800" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXRzfGZSQuBe-VhHdHGROF2DPRVVicaqC2b_dTjZi-w-nkFdiUghgqOy1ZUPIptJMaIr8RHTeScMZ9CZJOYUk3bHBN-kYyi0iikg-A_DwemGCnku6zL_-lHTuPMrltmb6lSYe2dsbY4BY/w640-h480/1.png" width="640" /></a></div><br />OK, so I got another comment from a Christian who wanted to shove his god right through my a**.<p></p><p style="text-align: justify;">I don't even know where this comment came from. It was too far from the issue. Maybe he just got so pissed off with me. Anyways, since I really don't have enough time to type an answer to his comment at that time, I just stated (in a question form) that this is a "god of the gaps?" Instead of getting a rebuttal, the guy tried to make a slur, saying that I'm the filler. Too lame. </p><p style="text-align: justify;">Enough of the guy and let's talk about the comment.</p><span><a name='more'></a></span><p style="text-align: justify;"><br /></p><p style="text-align: justify;">It is written in Tagalog, so to make things simpler, the whole comment is just saying that "Science hasn't discover everything and that it only discovered things that were already been created." So it is a kind of a god in the gaps argument; If science haven't discover things yet, them *poof* GOD! If science discovers it, then GOD is out. That's it, that's his whole fucking, goddamn comment.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">Now, let see...</p><p style="text-align: justify;">Who says that science is a CREATOR? Science is a study. It's a method. If you want something that creates, look it up at technology. </p><p style="text-align: justify;">Science discovers - then we (by using technology) create. Science discovers bacteria and viruses as cause of diseases and NOT a god's wrath, magic and witchcraft, and then we create medicines and vaccines. Science discover the quantum realm, we created transistors and cellphones. Science discover the possibility of air flight, then we create jet engines, jet planes and rocket ships. Science discover that we can go to the Moon, then we create the means to make it happen. Science discover nuclear power, then we create reactors and bombs. </p><p style="text-align: justify;">Now, science also discovered that energy and matter is almost the same thing (Thanks to Einstein's famous equation) and that energy can't be created nor destroyed which might be a little bit of a contradiction on the Christian's rant...er comment pala. </p><p style="text-align: justify;">And that's how the "god of the gaps" work. It will look at things that science hasn't discovered yet and will insert itself in between the gaps. Am I the filler? Nah. It's the guy's god who tries to be a filler. A very, very bad filler.</p>John Paraisohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10969065277187656170noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3624269659765973625.post-66102645464646175622021-02-28T08:49:00.008+08:002021-02-28T08:49:57.302+08:00Objective Morality<p style="text-align: justify;"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzaSGzy57kRWOFEiRbMCQ9BJDZ0JgcV_YIp66BthaEROzOyNZIuZad2XAbEDjkBPvdEdTd0GoObxSKxEhWilHMJoP1N0Qe_pDopusn3MvSlqvlCbtsz9CELfZZJHHImoluF_c0VKSZw1A/s644/Objective+Morality.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="532" data-original-width="644" height="528" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzaSGzy57kRWOFEiRbMCQ9BJDZ0JgcV_YIp66BthaEROzOyNZIuZad2XAbEDjkBPvdEdTd0GoObxSKxEhWilHMJoP1N0Qe_pDopusn3MvSlqvlCbtsz9CELfZZJHHImoluF_c0VKSZw1A/w640-h528/Objective+Morality.png" width="640" /></a></div><br />First of all, I still don't get the "justice" part on killing babies, the elderly, and livestock.<p></p><p style="text-align: justify;">Anyways, there were talks about objective vs. subjective morality when I saw 1 Samuel 15:2–3 in the Bible so I asked a question:</p><p style="text-align: justify;">"If the killing was commanded by god, will it make killing good?"</p><span><a name='more'></a></span><p style="text-align: justify;"><br /></p><p style="text-align: justify;">I asked this question since I know that Christians (or theists in general) believe that morality is objective. I was surprised to find out that most Christians seem to be unfamiliar with the issue regarding objective morality. </p><p style="text-align: justify;">According to Christian apologist Norman Geisler in the book When Skeptics Ask, an absolute moral obligation is an objective (not subjective) moral duty. That simply means we derive our morality on something - and let me guess. That something is god. God defines whether the action is good or bad. So, according to most Christians, our morality is derived at god's commandments and where else can we find it better than on the Ten Commandments. Moral duty is therefore objective because god (who is always good) commanded you to do it. </p><p style="text-align: justify;">Therefore, if god says "Thou shall not kill" (or murder, depending on what bible translation you are using.)then killing is an evil act.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">But then there's 1 Samuel 15:2–3 in which god commanded the killing (or murder) of infants, and the elderly. Which brings me back to my question: "If the killing was commanded by god, will it make killing good?"</p><p style="text-align: justify;">Some Christians agree that it makes killing good or justifiable.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">Wait? That makes morality arbitrary, not objective. That makes good "good" depending on god's commanding it to be "good" and not through the action itself. </p><p style="text-align: justify;">AND objective morality SHOULD EXIST because their god requires it! Remember, one of the arguments on the existence of god is the existence of objective morality. If objective morality doesn't exist, then this SUPERNATURAL LAW GIVER also doesn't exist.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">Facing 1 Samuel 15:2–3, most Christians try to sweep away the issue. Some even became subjectivist themselves by stating the action of killing depends on the situation. This statement unknowingly wins the case for those who believe that morality is subjective. There are a lot of red herring in which most commenter tried to change the subject matter by inserting irrelevant issues to distract the original question like the difference between killing and murder, but I always try to bring it back to the original topic. I even read a guy saying 1 Samuel 15:2–3 was a military operation. So when genocide did became a military operation?</p><p style="text-align: justify;">I guess it all brings down to the fact that morality is really all about a person's opinion.</p>John Paraisohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10969065277187656170noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3624269659765973625.post-68480132547373335292021-02-05T21:35:00.000+08:002021-02-05T21:35:45.453+08:00Satanism Again? <p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-SX8deRUN8HCQ9vMGimk1YeKwRyNYt8CgFvmHiC0N7T0zX8fUiHrM23JGtHsaNQYdSfd_MfkFfcUzJZnTR5NhYDJU1Ps0GDT4bdC1bpb1CaA2mVz1xXo9XU40rBWIyR8fTXyxyds_YDk/s1053/Capture.PNG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="848" data-original-width="1053" height="516" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-SX8deRUN8HCQ9vMGimk1YeKwRyNYt8CgFvmHiC0N7T0zX8fUiHrM23JGtHsaNQYdSfd_MfkFfcUzJZnTR5NhYDJU1Ps0GDT4bdC1bpb1CaA2mVz1xXo9XU40rBWIyR8fTXyxyds_YDk/w640-h516/Capture.PNG" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">So what's with Satanism and atheism nga ba? I've noticed that a lot of god-believers seems to connect atheism with Satanism. Maybe because they think that Satanism is all about being against god. They think that if you don't believe in their god, then you're against their god. This implies that they don't know what atheism and Satanism is all about.</div><p></p><p style="text-align: justify;">First of all, there's nothing in the Christian holy book that says Satan and his devils doesn't believed in a god. In fact, according to the General Epistle of James, the devils also believe, and trembles. (James 2:19) Ancient Israel can't imagine someone who doesn't believe their god - obviously, ancient Hebrews aren't that philosophical compare to the ancient Greeks.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">When we talk about Satanism, what kind of Satanism are they trying to connect? The Church of Satan that was established in 1969 by circus artist Anton Szandor LaVey? Michael Aquino's Temple of Set, or is it DeGrimston's Process Church? Most of these churches are into theatrics and are know to be symbolic - Satan is just a symbol for indulgence. I really don't know what these people really believed but LaVey's Satanism is more of a parody against the hypocrisy of the Christian evangelicalism in the 70's.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">Just like other religions, there maybe atheists who are members of these Satan churches, the same as atheists who are members of Buddhism, Unitarian Universalism, Christian atheism, and even a Jedi.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">So saying that "EVERY ATHEISTS ARE SATANISTS" is quite ridiculous.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">Until next time.</p>John Paraisohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10969065277187656170noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3624269659765973625.post-56472602464399690302021-01-31T21:33:00.003+08:002021-01-31T21:33:41.703+08:00Avoiding the Issue<p> Now here's something typical, and yet a good catch. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjVHDVBhPcspH7ixDLABucfCvIfSXolWC1xBG_O3VS7S8KFGcs3KlUoM1-0JDGjDJ9wZ7yxMDamFjzN53Fo8Z0tGfQx_NcvUQO4htC3Y9QP8B9ay8QrTNNCi9X6e1zjFFq60QQEVSophs/s446/Capture.PNG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="330" data-original-width="446" height="296" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjVHDVBhPcspH7ixDLABucfCvIfSXolWC1xBG_O3VS7S8KFGcs3KlUoM1-0JDGjDJ9wZ7yxMDamFjzN53Fo8Z0tGfQx_NcvUQO4htC3Y9QP8B9ay8QrTNNCi9X6e1zjFFq60QQEVSophs/w400-h296/Capture.PNG" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p>Grace, I was shocked by your comment on the issue of the interpretation of the 6 days creation. <i>Walang kweta pala sa iyo ang usapang</i> hermeneutics. Why? According to the website Christianity.com, "The ultimate goal of hermeneutics is to discover the truths and values in the Bible and what the text truly means." </p><p>Now in some of your videos, you even talk about how true the Genesis narrative was yet now you're saying the interpretation doesn't matter? </p><p>Sure it matters. If Christians like you are shoving your religious belief and your holy book in our tight ass, might as well you give us the right interpretation. Otherwise, it will be taken as a big joke book. You see, without proper hermeneutics, biblical interpretation will be a sick joke since anyone will just interpret it base on what they wanted it to become. That's a big confusion. You can't just sweep in under the rug and pretend biblical hermeneutics doesn't exist.</p><p>Are both interpretation compatible? According to the Christian evangelical site Answers In Genesis, "Jesus and the New Testament apostles read Genesis 1–11 as straightforward historical narrative. There are additional good scholarly reasons for coming to that conclusion (See Terry Mortenson and Thane H. Ury, eds., Coming to Grips with Genesis (Green Forest, Arkansas: Master Books, 2008).</p><p>And taking the scriptures out of context and interpreting it based on modern scientific facts undermined the message. As if you trust your interpretation on worldly knowledge that from the Holy Spirit.</p><p>Christians wanted skeptics to accept the Genesis narrative as a historical fact yet now you're saying that it doesn't matter how it will be interpreted? Are you suggesting @ Grace Peñalosa that biblical interpretation is relative. That we just need to believe and biblical difficulties are gone? Wow! </p><p>So, yes it matters. </p><p>Also, how can an amateur apologist like you can defend your faith if all you got to do is to run for cover when tough questions are asked? I guess you forgotten what the Apostle Paul said to "Prove All Things; Hold Fast That Which Is Good" (1 Thessalonians 5:21) Is proving the truth of the "Word of God" is beyond scientific facts something as "walang kwenta?"</p><p>My gosh, for an apologist you're so weak @ Grace Peñalosa. No wonder Paul said, "But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence." - 1 Timothy 2:12</p><div><br /></div>John Paraisohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10969065277187656170noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3624269659765973625.post-86466730055453025362021-01-10T16:48:00.004+08:002021-01-10T16:48:40.893+08:00Religion?<div style="text-align: center;"><iframe frameborder="0" height="360" src="https://youtube.com/embed/TVdKZkQSQpo" style="background-image: url(https://i.ytimg.com/vi/TVdKZkQSQpo/hqdefault.jpg);" width="480"></iframe></div>John Paraisohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10969065277187656170noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3624269659765973625.post-90143942316018209372021-01-10T16:39:00.000+08:002021-01-10T16:39:37.597+08:00Pinoy Atheist Looks at Tik Tok Scientists<div style="text-align: center;"><iframe frameborder="0" height="360" src="https://youtube.com/embed/XJsn3baPX74" style="background-image: url(https://i.ytimg.com/vi/XJsn3baPX74/hqdefault.jpg);" width="480"></iframe></div>John Paraisohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10969065277187656170noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3624269659765973625.post-41069100366208123552021-01-10T16:34:00.000+08:002021-01-10T16:34:01.636+08:00Grace's Kalamity<div style="text-align: center;"><iframe frameborder="0" height="270" src="https://youtube.com/embed/no3VReixUF4" style="background-image: url(https://i.ytimg.com/vi/no3VReixUF4/hqdefault.jpg);" width="480"></iframe></div>John Paraisohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10969065277187656170noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3624269659765973625.post-21888010930920561162020-10-04T11:48:00.006+08:002020-10-04T11:53:03.229+08:00Missed the Mark!<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div><div style="text-align: justify;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://contemporareformed.wordpress.com/2020/10/03/real-talk-walang-science-kung-walang-faith-part-2-a-response-to-a-rebuttal-offered-by-the-pinoy-atheist/?fbclid=IwAR140P1dAOOHG6EO5S7UsG2lCvyaSxqlXE2ouV5wdTHC2ZKlXw_q0nJmC_E" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="501" data-original-width="807" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3_xqXwhXZqRxiU5IWYSgMw5MH9soXDCHLOCcWJ1GsRhOBBRLyJzBcdrSxjP158-ZT-9FwXbY_vpvHsnTpDr2MQkxsOwfeS8sIbpbxqTUtNsNdUo0UTpF6iuunqC3lz0STpi0Qgdw_mYI/s320/Capture.PNG" width="320" /></a></div><br />CR made his response... </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div></div><div><div style="text-align: justify;">Sadly, it didn't hit the goal post.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div></div><div><div style="text-align: justify;">Ang simple lang naman ang sinabi ko eh: "Faith is not an assumption, therefore science is not relying on faith."</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div></div><div style="text-align: justify;">All CR has to do is to prove that faith is an assumption so that his article will fit the bill. I don’t know about CR, but I don’t think that faith assumption and precondition of intelligibility is the same thing. Faith assumptions are assumptions that may be false or true yet but for some practical or moral reasons to trust you just go alone with them while precondition of intelligibility are reality that must be consistent with itself like the Laws of Logic, the uniformity of nature, to shape our worldview…</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: white;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: white;">OK, enough of the meanings. Let’s talk about science, assumption, and faith.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: white;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: white;">CR wrote, <i>“Every scientific endeavor has to rely on these faith assumptions...”</i></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: white;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: white;">So when CR talks about science and faith, what does he mean about the word “faith? “ If we look in a dictionary we see that the word faith has several meanings, but I will just concentrate on the first 2. One is that <b>faith is a complete trust or confidence in someone or something.</b> Second, <b>faith is defined as a strong belief based on conviction rather than proof.</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: white;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: white;">So according to CR, science itself is based on faith because every scientific endeavor relies on assumptions that may be false or true yet that are taken for granted because of reality that must be consistent with something that we need in order to make sense out of the world - Laws of logic, uniformity of nature, existence of a real physical world “out there,” the “I,” the existence of other “minds...” (Which presuppositionalist apologists call precondition of intelligibility). </span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: white;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: white;">But here’s the problem: Faith is NOT an assumption.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: white;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: white;">When we talk about faith, we are talking about a complete trust or confidence. On its second definition, faith is said to be based on conviction. Since science will always leave a certain amount of uncertainty on its assumptions, then we are not talking about faith. Let say that we assume the Sun will always shine tomorrow. Really? Are you 100% certain? We have a high confidence rate that the Sun will shine tomorrow because the supporting evidence of the claim is high BUT, in the face of new evidence or new information, the confidence rate changes. </span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: white;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: white;">A good example here is quantum physics. Back in the old days of Newton, we believe that the Law of Physics is fix and predictable. Then BOOM! Quantum physics entered the picture. We discovered that when we talk about quantum physics, the Laws of Logic doesn’t apply - electrons can be a wave and a particle at the same time (Have you heard about Schrodinger’s cat?). That quantum particle can be in different places at the same time (known as entanglement) etc. – All defying the laws of logic. That pissed off Einstein but Bohr won the bet. </span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: white;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: white;">In other words, science changes its assumptions when new information comes in. If science does not change its assumptions especially when new evidence and arguments show that the assumptions are untenable then its method won’t get close to the truth.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: white;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: white;">Since CR used the bible in his article, I think it would also be OK for me to use it. So here goes…</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: white;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: white;">Faith is defined in Hebrews 11: 1</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><i><span style="color: white;">Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. (ASV)</span></i></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: white;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: white;">Faith is a complete trust, an assurance (a guarantee) on what you believe (conviction) even without any visible evidence.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: white;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: white;">So faith is an assurance (a guarantee) and unlike assumptions, it doesn’t change. No amount of evidence or new information will change a guarantee. If you have faith (a guarantee on your conviction) in Jesus as “the Son of God” and that if you “believe it as true you get eternal life” no amount of proof, evidence and argument will change that. </span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: white;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: white;">Because most lay Christian believers (or those who really doesn’t understand their own holy book) are equivocating the meaning of faith with making assumptions, they say that science also have faith. Sadly, these “Christians” are the one who gives their faith a bad rep to non-believers like me. </span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: white;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: white;">If you cannot understand a simple word defined by Hebrews 11: 1, and if you cannot even understand what faith is, then how can you explain to me why I need to believe the Christian claim? </span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: white;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: white;">Tough luck, eh? </span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: white;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: white;">Until next time.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: white;">Ciao!</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: white;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: white;">(Note: I have read ContemporaReformed entire article, but most are really off-topics. The real topic is Walang “Science” kung Walang “Faith and I guess this short 818 words article is enough to topple CR’s myth.)</span></div><br /></span><p></p>John Paraisohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10969065277187656170noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3624269659765973625.post-26516836583282701792020-06-24T13:43:00.002+08:002020-06-24T13:43:54.385+08:00Kontrabida: Mayroon ba o wala?<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaUAkUeSu83J9Xwc_jdrI_1ralKlvWS1SwytDgWX4G_91J5QKsr7vA5SdzCbsiQwcTiZfJmZwOzrsqz3DjTnb2kT0O5YjePuBea4ntDRR_HxefhBKOnCvXgrOOt5ZEmFehMCL1MuOW3WU/s499/Kontrabida.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="475" data-original-width="499" height="476" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaUAkUeSu83J9Xwc_jdrI_1ralKlvWS1SwytDgWX4G_91J5QKsr7vA5SdzCbsiQwcTiZfJmZwOzrsqz3DjTnb2kT0O5YjePuBea4ntDRR_HxefhBKOnCvXgrOOt5ZEmFehMCL1MuOW3WU/w500-h476/Kontrabida.png" width="500" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Most of the time Faith Defenders get tangled with their own explanation. Come on, take a good look.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">According to this uh, "Christian propaganda" an atheist doesn't accept that a god created all things yet we believe that we are a product of dirt from the bigbang and somewhat magically evolved into humans.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Wow!</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">It is very obvious that the dork who created that message and those people who post this doesn't understand science, The Bigbang, and evolution. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">So let me clarify this... </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Atheists are not convinced with the first claim because "god" is a supernatural explanation.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">First, supernatural explanations are not scientific explanations. The reason for this is that science focuses on the natural world. Gods, devils, angels, genies. leprechauns, and faeries are outside the rules that govern the natural world.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Second, supernatural claims are not testable.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">And third, supernatural claims can't be falsify.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Now, there are no dirt that came out with the Bigbang (that is IF you consider matter, space and time as dirt.) Also, the Bigbang is not considered as "the origin" of the universe." </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Now, humans don’t come from dirt. Only an ancient religious book has such an idea, but scientifically speaking humans evolved from a common ancestor where other mammals and apes also evolved from. That doesn't require magic. It only needs 3 conditions: 1. There is a population of things that make copies of themselves. 2. The copying process is not perfect. and 3. The copying errors lead to differences in the ability of offspring to survive and make copies of themselves. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">TADAH! </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Creating straw-man arguments doesn't make you win an argument. It just shows how dumb you really are.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Until next time.</div><div><br /></div>John Paraisohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10969065277187656170noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3624269659765973625.post-64001613853049163822020-06-16T19:33:00.000+08:002020-06-16T19:33:05.667+08:00Who's Stupid Now?<div style="text-align: justify;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioNoRahPKi81PQty00hj55eoUyrLiAR6iw8XVs6OxQDQXy3Gpqv3O-obWfHU518E3KiUqxKMp9ZhUU482nTytWXq50vqNy-v9cqCfzMQB4OzJICr69ye__OaVAhb48sVfYVOQdJwlfqlg/s607/Who%2527s+Stupid+Now.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="416" data-original-width="607" height="343" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioNoRahPKi81PQty00hj55eoUyrLiAR6iw8XVs6OxQDQXy3Gpqv3O-obWfHU518E3KiUqxKMp9ZhUU482nTytWXq50vqNy-v9cqCfzMQB4OzJICr69ye__OaVAhb48sVfYVOQdJwlfqlg/w500-h343/Who%2527s+Stupid+Now.png" width="500" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div>I remember an episode of the Simpsons when Homer confronted Pascal's Wager - "What if we're worshiping the wrong god and we're just making her madder and madder?" </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">And Homer was suppose to be stupid? </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">We know that Pascal's Wager is just making the Black and White Fallacy but let us just explore why this is a very poor bet for convincing an atheist.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">According to the post, the Christian believe in God and the afterlife. The atheist don't. Now, there are just two and only two possibility: (A)There is a God and an afterlife and (B)there is NO God and an afterlife. Really? Only 2 possibilities? </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Let's look at his two senarios.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><b><br /></b></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><b>Senario #1- there is NO God and an afterlife. Does the Christian loses nothing?</b></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Let say for more than 30 years, the good Christian attended his church diligently every Sunday for 2 hours (not including travel time), and giving his salary's 10% for his weekly church tithes to pay the Pastor's salary and to buy the church new jet plane tax free - includes the Pastor's daily expenses for his multi-million mansion and holiday cruise travel. He also have Bible studies every Wednesday evening and weekly church donations. Then he dies. Just imagine all those wasted time and money he could have saved and used for a better and tangible purpose for himself and his family. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><b>Senario #2 - Now what if there's a God and an afterlife? </b></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Did the Christian won the gamble? </div><div style="text-align: justify;">What if he is a members of a "false church?" </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">The Christian seems to forget that there are so many Christian denominations (Roman Catholic, Jehovah's Witnesses, Seventh Day Adventists, Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day saints, , Iglesia Ni Cristo, Episcopalian, Evangelical (Born-Again) Christians, Ang Dating Daan, etc.) and they are all accusing each other as being a false church. As Jesus said, not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom in heaven (Matthew 7:21). Now imagine what will happen to this Christian if he was attending the "wrong Christian church?"</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Then, there are those other religions like Judaism and Islam. According to Islam for example, Christians will be send to hell for worshiping Jesus as Son of God. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">I guess the Christian here just made a very bad bet and LOSES BIG TIME! </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">This only proves that Homer Simpson is wiser compare to an average Christian who still uses Pascal's Wager. It is considered a very useless argument because gambling is not always a good, sure bet.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Until next time.</div><div><br /></div>John Paraisohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10969065277187656170noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3624269659765973625.post-31537315106453337182020-06-16T19:31:00.001+08:002020-06-16T19:31:49.106+08:00Prime Mover Argument<div style="text-align: justify;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqXdGY2x2XNF9baGmOp5up_Ht4gL-ldFNY1tTmPmeTR5g2AbrHKf9rDMMsyjqb9FXADMXjepRZkhI2_o8qhCostlpBwIRTNmgFeMeg5K1gK407rH1Q8r5NdMKTIZz7rJzP1hcP14lHzQ0/s946/Prime+Mover+Argument.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="586" data-original-width="946" height="310" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqXdGY2x2XNF9baGmOp5up_Ht4gL-ldFNY1tTmPmeTR5g2AbrHKf9rDMMsyjqb9FXADMXjepRZkhI2_o8qhCostlpBwIRTNmgFeMeg5K1gK407rH1Q8r5NdMKTIZz7rJzP1hcP14lHzQ0/w500-h310/Prime+Mover+Argument.png" width="500" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div>With all the new scientific discoveries in the 21st century, I never thought I will still encounter someone using 11th century scholasticism. I guess some Christian apologist never upgrade. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">A good example is the Prime Mover Argument. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><b>Using Newton's Law?</b></div><div style="text-align: justify;"> </div><div style="text-align: justify;">As stated by Newton's First Law of Motion, bodies do not alter their motions unless forces are applied to them. A body at rest stays at rest. A moving body continues to travel with the same speed and direction unless acted upon by a net force. In other words, a body at rest or a body in motion will continue till some net force acted upon it. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><b>So what does Newton have to do with it?</b></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Well, proponents of the Prime Mover argument believe that the whole Shebang (the universe) started in static till "someone" started the ball rolling and that someone is the theist's Big Daddy in the Sky called GOD. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><b><br /></b></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><b>It's Not Scientific</b></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">The concept behind the Prime Mover argument is not scientific. The idea came from Thomas Aquinas (1225-1274) on one of his arguments on proving the existence of god called Quinque Viae. Aquinas based this not on physics, but from his favorite Greek philosopher Aristotle. Oh yes, this is the same Aristotle that believed the universe is made up of four basic elements - earth, air, fire and water. Anyways, Aristotle believed that the natural state of any body is to be at rest - the same idea that Aquinas used. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><b>Newton Again?</b></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Using Newton's first law is not a good idea to defend the Prime Mover argument. As stated, the law says that a particle would tend to stay at rest or move (in a constant velocity) if no external force is applied to it. Hence it is as natural for a body to move in a constant velocity as it is for a body to be at rest. There is no need for a Prime Mover.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><b>No Frame of Reference</b></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">As experiments done by physicists A.A. Michelson, and E.W. Morley in 1881 and 1887 it were found out that there are no standard and absolute frames in the universe. Albert Einstein used the conclusion of these experiments as one of his postulate in his Special Theory of Relativity. So therefore, these make the idea of a Prime Mover absolute nonsense.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><b>It's Gobbledygook.</b></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Which brings me to a question: "WHERE IN PHYSICS DOES IT SAYS THAT THE NATURAL STATE OF ANY BODY IS AT REST?" </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">The concept of a Prime Mover is just ancient Greek speculations and scholastic gibberish. It's not physics, not science. THEREFORE, the Prime Mover is nothing but twaddle.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Until next time.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div>John Paraisohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10969065277187656170noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3624269659765973625.post-53551050732533408902020-06-16T19:30:00.000+08:002020-06-16T19:30:29.108+08:00Tele-evangelists are no science teacher.<div style="text-align: justify;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-2kJssjcEfVPJR13mYEKsQ0MR0toIFsyG4hfsZ1PybmOjB_hH9LBM0F9G2LjAFBHk_VwAzaLn-dNStHTe7gnqD5_1iXE-qilXjoHaka_fOCzch3wZH1MXrC7n7yAgkIRJIVil1GeDU60/s378/Not+A+Science+Teacher.PNG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="378" data-original-width="350" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-2kJssjcEfVPJR13mYEKsQ0MR0toIFsyG4hfsZ1PybmOjB_hH9LBM0F9G2LjAFBHk_VwAzaLn-dNStHTe7gnqD5_1iXE-qilXjoHaka_fOCzch3wZH1MXrC7n7yAgkIRJIVil1GeDU60/w370-h400/Not+A+Science+Teacher.PNG" width="370" /></a></div></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div>Letting TV preachers do your science homework? Now that's how to get an "F" in Physics.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"> According to a certain "most sensible" Christian TV Preacher, matter perishes. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Weh? Hindi nga?</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Scientifically speaking, matter doesn’t perish. They just change from one state to another. When iron is oxygenated for example, it creates iron oxide (AKA rust). The matter in the iron didn't lose its "matterness" so to speak. It just changed from one state to another. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Obviously, this "most sensible" preacher was trying to discredit matter using his weak understanding of the Laws of Thermodynamics. Since the 2nd Law of thermodynamics states that entropy (disorder) increases so VIOLA! Matter perishes. Sad that his "sensibility" prevented him to learn something about the 1st Law of Thermodynamics which stated that matter/energy cannot be created nor destroyed. Matter only turns into energy and energy to matter as what Albert Einstein's famous equation E = mc2 demonstrated. The number of energy and matter in the universe remains constant. Nothing perishes. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Some bible fanatics might argue that the preacher is just using a layman's standpoint. For a layman's standpoint, matter perishes. Wood rot or burn, rocks crumble and metal rust. Oh, so let us also add that in a layman observation, the Sun revolves around the earth, the Sun is not a star and stars are small. Remember that a layperson's opinion is not science, so if you would like to justify your religious belief by trying to use science yet getting ideas from a layperson's belief, then I guess being foolish would be that preacher's best quality.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Until next time.</div><div><br /></div>John Paraisohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10969065277187656170noreply@blogger.com0
