[ Ludwig Wittgenstein by David Levine] |
"The limits of your language are the limits of your
world." Yes, it was quoted by the Austrian philosopher Ludwig
Wittgenstein. Now this quote makes me think about some claims that Islam have
regarding the Qur'an, Allah and the Arabic language.
According to those Balik-Islam in Rizal Park, we cannot use
other language than Arabic if we want to discuss Islam and the Qur’an. Muslim also
prays in Arabic and not in their native tongue. So that means a Filipino Muslim
will pray using Classical Arabic and not their native language when they pray
or teach what is in the Qur'an. Well, they say it's something about their
brotherhood. However, as Wittgenstein said about the limit of language, it
seems this is the limits of Allah.
