"Pardon me...We need to study "nothing?"

"The study of theology, as it stands in the Christian churches, is the study of
nothing; it is founded on nothing; it rests on no principles; it proceeds by no
authority; it has no data; it can demonstrate nothing; and it admits of no
conclusion." - Thomas Paine
I have read this article in the Business World (May 11) and this was written by Fr. Roy Cimagala (See: We need to study theology by Fr. Roy Cimagala May 11, 2005 )

Hmmmm... We need to study theology...WHAT FOR?

Does it pay my rent? Does it bore a hole in a pipe? What will I get for it?
We have been getting allot of dosage of this Christian theology for 4000 years, what good did it gave us as a nation?  Today we are known to be one of the most dangerous place in the world, one of the most corrupt.

Does your 4000 year old theology did anything to solve our national crisis? Did it lower the price if fuel? Heck! It doesn't even teach us to make a good meal to serve despite the rising prices of goods.

Why should we need to study your theology farther?

So what if we don't grow or be stunned like a pygmy in a study about nothing?

What will blind faith and false hope from your theology contribute to help solve the country's problem?

What has this theology ever accomplished anyway?

These so-called teachers of theology have given us no answers. As Richard Dawkins has already said,
"What has theology ever said that is of the smallest use to anybody? When has theology ever said anything that is demonstrably true and is not obvious? I have listened to theologians, read them, debated against them. I have never heard any of them ever say anything of the smallest use, anything that was not either platitudinously obvious or downright false. If all the achievements of scientists were wiped out tomorrow, there would be no doctors but witch doctors, no transport faster than horses, no computers, no printed books, no agriculture beyond subsistence peasant farming. If all the achievements of theologians were wiped out tomorrow, would anyone notice the smallest difference? Even the bad achievements of scientists, the bombs, and sonar-guided whaling vessels work!
The achievements of theologians don't do anything, don't affect anything, don't mean anything. What makes anyone think that "theology" is a subject at all?"

Well father?
